Popsicle Stick Bridge

For the ASCE Popsicle Stick Bridge Competition, we present our method to design and construct a bridge made of popsicle sticks and white, all-purpose glue. In our design process, we decided to use the triangle and triangle-based trusses for the structure for our bridge. Reducing the height of our bridge revealed that no sacrifice in structural integrity was necessary to reduce weight. By meticulously repositioning popsicle sticks and reconfiguring layering techniques, we optimized the bridge’s strength. We present the details of our design and construction process with examples illustrating their usage.
